G-shape Scale

  • start by assigning your fingers to the first four frets
  • play the third string open (G) and a G sharp on the first fret using your first finger
  • play the second string open (B), a C on the first fret using your first finger, a D on the third fret using your third finger and a D sharp on the fourth fret using your fourth finger
  • on the first string play an F on the first fret using your first finger, an F sharp on the second fret using your second finger and a G on the third fret using your third finger

E-shape Scale

  • start by assigning your fingers to the second, third, fourth and fifth frets
  • on the sixth string play a G on the third fret using your second finger and a G sharp on the fourth fret using your third finger
  • on the fifth string play a B on the second fret using your first finger, then shift your hand up one fret to play a C on the third fret using your first finger, a D on the fifth fret using your third finger and a D sharp on the sixth fret using your fourth finger
  • on the fourth string play an F on the third fret using your first finger, an F sharp on the fourth fret using your second finger and a G on the fifth fret using your third finger

D-shape Scale

  • start by assigning your fingers to the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh frets
  • on the fourth string play a G on the fifth fret using your second finger and a G sharp on the sixth fret using your third finger
  • on the third string play a B on the fourth fret using your first finger, then shift your hand up one fret to play a C on the fifth fret using your first finger, a D on the seventh fret using your third finger and a D sharp on the eighth fret using your fourth finger
  • on the second string play an F on the sixth fret using your second finger, an F sharp on the seventh fret using your third finger and a G on the eighth fret using your fourth finger

  • on the fifth string play a G on the tenth fret using your third finger and a G sharp on the eleventh fret using your fourth finger
  • on the fourth string play a B on the ninth fret using your second finger and a C on the tenth fret using your third finger
  • shift your hand down one fret and on the third string play a D on the seventh fret using your first finger, a D sharp on the eighth fret using your second finger and an F on the tenth fret using your fourth finger
  • on the second string play an F sharp on the seventh fret using your first finger and a G on the eighth fret using your second finger
